GEORGE HORNE
My position on the canoes are the skipper/steerperson; it is my job to communicate with the crew on the water. Steering the Outrigger is different but riding the waves is going to be fun!
Coming from a paddling family has embedded the love for the water in my soul.

JOE SEWARD
My traditional name is TKOLECTEN, my borrowed name is Joe Seward, I am of the Tsartlip First Nation. I attend the University of Victoria and am a father of three, with one on the way. I am a very culturally based person; I follow culture, language and traditions, paddling being one of them. I am a 4th generation paddler and I paddle out of the Geronimo Canoe Club in Saanich.
I grew up with the sport - I started paddling our traditional “War Canoes” at the age of 5 and over the years of my paddling career I’ve seen success in 11 man, 6 man, 2 man and solo races in our traditional war canoe racing circuit. More recently, we migrated over to the outrigger circuit in which we strung together some big wins, Canadian Nationals (three times), experienced the waters of Hawaii, Oregon and our latest Canadian Nationals Title won us a trip to the World Championships in Tahiti…as team Canada!
I am grateful for this opportunity - paddling is more than a sport to me, it’s a way of life.
